Simple adjectives like grand, breathtaking,amazing,beautiful, surreal,etc etc..,will never come close to describing our experiencing the architectural genius of Antonio Gaudì's work in the Basilica De La Sagrada Familia. Gaudi wrote of his church ..."The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people."
The work on the Sagrada began in 1882 with Gaudi's commission begining in 1883 and continuning until his death in 1926. He designed and built the church to reflect his own architectural style by combing both Gothic and Art nouveau forms. The church is not only a UNESCO World Heritage piece but was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI as a minor Basicilia. For more information on this amazing church , please check out the following link.
